Actress Rubina Dilaik broke many stereotypes when she took on the role of a transgender woman in Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. The actress is marrying her long-time beau Abhinav Shukla in Shimla’s Woodville Palace today. It will be a day wedding in the presence of family members, relatives and close friends. Friends like Sharad Kelkar – Keerti Kelkar, Tina Kuwajerwala, Ghazala Shaikh and others are in Shimla for the wedding festivities. The two met two years back and Abhinav was instantly smitten by her. Hometown WeddingThe TV actress hails from Shimla. And she wanted to marry in her hometown. Most of her family members are settled there and it is also not very far from Ludhiana, where Abhinav’s family lives. They are nature lovers so the greenery and picturesque setting of Shimla is the perfect backdrop for them. They have decided to only have the rituals, which they feel are important. It is not a very elaborate wedding. She told Bombay Times, “We are not going in for an elaborate ritual, as for us, what matters most is the saat phere. We both wanted it to be an outdoor affair. Abhinav, being an adventure junkie, wished to exchange vows amidst the mountains, in the lap of nature. Only near and dear onesLike Gautam Rode – Pankhuri Awasthy and Keith Sequeira – Rochelle Maria Rao, these two also want a wedding away from the media glare. The Woodville Palace of Shimla has been booked for the two-day affair. They feel their families will be more comfortable away from the paparazzi. Rubina and Abhinav do not want to put them on social media and make it a public affair. She said, “Our wedding, especially the rituals we’re doing with friends and family, that’s absolutely a personal and a private affair and we love to keep it that way. We are not looking at publicising or putting them on social media and make it a public affair.”

Two receptionsOne reception will be hosted in Ludhiana by Abhinav’s family while the party for the industry will be held in Kishor Kumar Bungalow, Juhu Tara Road. It is on June 28 at 8 pm. The house, Gouri Kunj is one of the landmarks of Juhu. Kankotri Invites made customised invites for the couple. Being nature lovers, they sent Terrarium plants with the card.
The bride’s squadSharad Kelkar’s wife Keerti is the maid of honour. The wedding will also see the presence of Surveen Chawla, Tina Kuwajerwala, Ghazala Shaikh, Kamya Punjabi, Meghna Malik, Srishty Rode and Benaf Dadachandji. Rubina has managed to get all of them to Shimla for the festivities.
Delayed HoneymoonRubina plays the lead on her show and cannot afford to take a long break right away. Even Abhinav is busy with Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. She told the leading daily, “I don’t think I will get a break for more than 10 days, as I have to balance my work and personal life. I can’t let my work suffer.Well, that can happen later. I don’t mind waiting for it, as anticipation adds to the excitement.”
